President Trump ‘remains in excellent health,’ says White House physician

On April 13, 2025, the White House released President Donald Trump’s annual medical report, declaring the 78-year-old commander-in-chief in “excellent cognitive and physical health.” The examination, conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, was overseen by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, a U.S. Navy captain and Purple Heart recipient.

Key Findings from the Medical Report

Dr. Barbabella’s assessment highlighted President Trump’s robust health across multiple systems, including cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological functions. The report noted no significant abnormalities, aside from minor conditions such as controlled hypercholesterolemia and seasonal allergies. Trump’s blood pressure was recorded at 128/74 mmHg, and his resting heart rate at 62 beats per minute, both within healthy ranges. His total cholesterol level stood at 140 mg/dL, considered optimal. He is currently prescribed rosuvastatin and ezetimibe for cholesterol management, along with medications for cardiac health and a skin condition.

The President’s cognitive abilities were also evaluated, with Trump achieving a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), indicating no signs of cognitive impairment.

Weight and Lifestyle

President Trump’s height was measured at 6 feet 3 inches, and his weight at 224 pounds, resulting in a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28, categorizing him as overweight but not obese. This reflects a 20-pound weight loss since his previous term, attributed to lifestyle adjustments and medical management.

The report emphasized Trump’s active lifestyle, noting his regular participation in meetings, public events, and frequent golf games. Dr. Barbabella cited these activities as contributing factors to the President’s overall health and vitality.

Medical History and Transparency

The medical report acknowledged President Trump’s history of controlled hypercholesterolemia, seasonal allergies, and a past COVID-19 infection. Additionally, it mentioned scarring from a failed assassination attempt in July 2024 and findings from a 2024 colonoscopy that revealed a benign polyp and diverticulitis.

This comprehensive disclosure marks a departure from previous years, addressing public concerns about the President’s health and age. Dr. Barbabella affirmed that President Trump is “fully fit” to carry out his presidential duties.

The release of this detailed medical report aims to provide transparency regarding President Trump’s health status, reassuring the public of his capacity to serve effectively in office.
