Mom Installs Baby Monitor in Son’s Room and Gets Scared When She Sees Movement There — Story of the Day

It was a typical evening for Sarah as she tucked her five-year-old son, Ethan, into bed. After a busy day of work, errands, and taking care of him, she was finally able to relax. Ethan had always been a calm sleeper, so she didn’t feel the need to worry much. However, as a precaution, she had recently installed a baby monitor in his room. She had never felt the need for one before, but after hearing a few unsettling stories in the news about strange occurrences, she thought it would give her peace of mind.

That night, after reading him his favorite bedtime story and tucking him in, Sarah turned off the lights and went downstairs to catch up on her favorite show. She could hear Ethan’s gentle breathing over the monitor, and for the most part, everything seemed calm. But as the evening went on, Sarah started to feel a sense of unease she couldn’t quite shake. She brushed it off as nothing more than exhaustion, but she couldn’t help checking the baby monitor every few minutes.

It wasn’t long before she saw something that made her freeze in place.

On the screen, she saw Ethan’s room illuminated by the soft glow of his nightlight, and everything appeared to be in order—except for one thing. There was movement in the corner of the room. At first, she thought it was just the shadows playing tricks on her, but as she stared closer, she realized that something—or someone—was indeed moving.

Her heart began to race as she stared, trying to make sense of what she was seeing. The figure appeared to be small, barely visible in the dim light, and it was walking near Ethan’s bed. The figure seemed to move in a way that didn’t make sense—slow and deliberate, like it was aware of the monitor’s presence.

With a growing sense of panic, Sarah quickly stood up and rushed up the stairs, her mind racing. Was it a burglar? Was someone in the house? Her pulse quickened with each step. When she reached Ethan’s room, the door was ajar. She pushed it open slowly, her breath shallow as she peeked inside.

There, lying in bed, was Ethan—fast asleep, completely undisturbed. The room appeared empty. No one was there. She checked every corner, her heart pounding in her chest. The room was quiet, peaceful, and still, just as it had been when she left.

Confused and shaken, she looked back down at the monitor in her hand. The strange movement was gone. The screen now showed only Ethan in his bed. It made no sense. Was it a glitch in the monitor? A trick of the light? Sarah was too shaken to consider any logical explanation.

Later that night, after lying awake in bed, she decided to check the monitor once more, just to ease her mind. This time, there was no movement, but a chilling thought crossed her mind: What if the monitor had captured something she wasn’t supposed to see? The room had been empty, but the feeling lingered.

The next day, Sarah reached out to a friend who had experience with technology, asking if there was a way the monitor could have malfunctioned. After a quick look, he told her that it was possible, but he also suggested something that made Sarah’s blood run cold: that sometimes baby monitors can pick up signals from nearby devices, or even other monitors in the area.

Though she couldn’t explain the strange sight on the screen, Sarah was determined not to let fear rule her. She decided to install a new, upgraded system the next day, hoping for clarity. But that night, as she tucked Ethan in once again, the thought of the shadowy figure still haunted her, making it hard to ignore the lingering unease that had taken root in her mind.

Was it just a trick of the technology? Or had she witnessed something unexplainable in the safety of her own home?
