In Loving Memory of Kiah: Fourteen Beautiful Years of Love and Loyalty
Last night at 10:15 PM, our beloved Kiah passed away. It feels impossible to put into words the deep ache in our hearts. Just the day before, she had still been full of joy, wagging her tail and basking in the comfort of the home she loved so dearly. But suddenly, something shifted. We noticed her breathing was heavy—something we initially chalked up to the unseasonable heat. We had no idea we were facing her final hours.
What we thought was a minor concern turned out to be congestive heart failure. A quick visit to the vet confirmed our fears. Medications were prescribed, and we held onto hope that they might ease her discomfort. But Kiah’s condition worsened rapidly. Within hours, it became clear that she was suffering. We were left with one of the hardest choices any pet owner must face: to let her go peacefully, surrounded by love.
Kiah was more than just a pet—she was family. For fourteen years, she filled our lives with companionship, laughter, and unwavering love. From the moment she came into our home as a curious little pup, she was a source of joy. Her paws padded beside us during our walks, her eyes followed us with deep understanding, and her presence was a quiet comfort on even the hardest days.
She was loyal, gentle, and full of personality. Whether she was curling up beside us on a quiet evening or greeting us with excitement after a long day, Kiah had a way of making everything feel a little lighter. She loved belly rubs, warm patches of sunlight, and treats (of course), but more than anything, she loved simply being with us. Her heart was full, and she gave all of it to the people who loved her most.
It’s hard to believe she’s gone. The house feels quiet in a way that’s hard to explain—not just silent, but missing something essential. Her favorite blanket sits undisturbed. Her leash hangs by the door. These little things now carry the weight of memory.
Fourteen years. It sounds like a long time, but when it’s over, it feels like no time at all. We’re grateful for every moment we had with her—the walks, the cuddles, the shared glances that said more than words ever could. But losing her so quickly has left us in shock. Grief is love with nowhere to go, and right now, we’re feeling the full weight of it.
Kiah, thank you for being our light, our protector, and our friend. Thank you for every tail wag, every lick, every quiet moment where you simply laid your head on our lap. You were, and will always be, so deeply loved.
Sleep peacefully, sweet girl. Your paw prints are forever on our hearts. ❤️
