“I’m Against It!” Older Man Stops Wedding, a Minute Later Cops Arrest Groom
The chapel was bathed in golden light as soft piano music filled the air. Anna, radiant in her ivory gown, stood at the altar, her hand trembling in Logan’s. Today was supposed to be perfect.
“Do you, Anna Reynolds, take Logan Brooks to be your lawfully wedded husband?” the officiant asked.
Anna smiled. “I do.”
Just as Logan opened his mouth to answer, the heavy oak doors at the back of the chapel slammed open.
“I’m against it!”
Gasps echoed as an older man, gray-haired and sharp-eyed, strode down the aisle. He wore a dark suit, the kind that spoke of authority.
Logan’s face drained of color. “What the hell, old man?”
Anna turned, confused. “Who are you?”
The man didn’t answer her. He fixed his gaze on Logan.
“You really thought you could fool another woman? Marry her, drain her bank account, and disappear like you did to my daughter?”
The room froze. Anna’s mother clutched her chest. The officiant stepped back.
“You’ve got the wrong person,” Logan stammered.
“No, I don’t.” The man pulled out his phone, showing Anna a photo. It was Logan, arm around another woman, standing in front of a courthouse.
“My daughter. He married her two years ago. Left her when she got sick and cleaned out her savings. You’re his next target.”
Tears welled in Anna’s eyes. She looked at Logan, searching for denial, for outrage—anything to suggest this was a mistake.
Instead, Logan’s jaw tightened. “This is ridiculous. Someone get this crazy old man out of here!”
But the man didn’t move. He pulled out a badge.
“Detective Harris, financial crimes division.” He nodded toward the chapel doors.
Right on cue, two uniformed officers entered.
“We’ve been building a case against you, Logan. Multiple counts of fraud, identity theft, and bigamy.”
“Bigamy?” Anna whispered, horror dawning.
Logan tried to run, but the officers were faster. Within seconds, he was face down on the carpet, cuffs clicking around his wrists.
“You can’t do this! This is my wedding!” Logan shouted, struggling.
Detective Harris glanced at Anna, his face softening. “I’m sorry, miss. I couldn’t let you become another victim.”
Anna stood frozen as the man who’d promised her forever was dragged out of the chapel.
The silence was deafening until Anna’s mother quietly took her hand. “Better heartbroken than ruined, sweetheart.”
Anna blinked back tears and nodded. The perfect day was shattered, but at least the rest of her life was saved.
