Former NCAA woman of the year, 5 other family members killed in upstate New York plane crash

On April 12, 2025, a tragic plane crash in Copake, New York, claimed the lives of six individuals, including former NCAA Woman of the Year Karenna Groff. The group was en route to the Catskills to celebrate a birthday and Passover when their Mitsubishi MU-2B aircraft, piloted by Dr. Michael Groff, crashed approximately 10 miles from Columbia County Airport. Karenna Groff, 25, was a standout soccer player at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was named the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year.
