Billy Joel’s Health Battle Forces Cancellation Of 17-Show Tour Across U.S. and U.K.

Billy Joel, the legendary singer-songwriter, has announced the cancellation of his 17-show tour across the U.S. and U.K. due to a recent diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a brain disorder that affects balance, vision, and hearing. The 76-year-old artist is undergoing treatment and physical therapy, with hopes of returning to the stage once his health improves.NPH is characterized by an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain’s ventricles, leading to increased pressure. Symptoms often include difficulties with walking, memory loss, and urinary incontinence. While the condition is serious, it is treatable, and Joel’s medical team is optimistic about his recovery.

The tour, which was set to feature co-headliners like Sting, Stevie Nicks, and Rod Stewart, included performances in cities such as Detroit, Toronto, Edinburgh, and Liverpool. All affected shows have been postponed, with new dates announced for 2026. Tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored for the rescheduled performances, and refunds are available for those unable to attend.

Joel’s family has been a pillar of support during this challenging time. His wife, Alexis Roderick Joel, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of well-wishes from fans and emphasized the importance of prioritizing health. Their daughters, Della and Remy, along with his eldest daughter Alexa Ray Joel, have also shared messages of love and encouragement, highlighting Joel’s resilience and determination to recover.

Despite this setback, Joel remains committed to his music and fans. He stated, “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.”

Fans and fellow musicians alike have expressed their support, sending messages of hope and encouragement. As Joel focuses on his recovery, the music community eagerly anticipates his return to the stage, reaffirming his enduring legacy as one of the most iconic performers of our time.
