A Note from the Delivery Guy Made Me Install Security Cameras Around My House – I’ll Forever Be Grateful to Him

It all started on an ordinary Tuesday afternoon. I was at home, working from my laptop when I received an alert from my front doorbell camera that a package had arrived. It was a regular delivery — a few items I had ordered online — and I didn’t think much of it at the time. But when I opened the door to retrieve the package, I was surprised to find a small note tucked inside it.

The note wasn’t from the seller or a marketing campaign. It read:

“I’m the delivery driver who drops off your packages. I noticed some things during my visits that made me concerned for your safety. I’m just a delivery guy, but I thought you should know that you should consider installing security cameras around your property. There’s something off about the area, and I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen. Please take care.”

The note was signed simply, “Your Delivery Guy.”

I stood there on my front porch, the note in my hands, a wave of confusion and unease washing over me. At first, I thought it was some kind of prank. Why would the delivery driver be so concerned about me? And what exactly had he noticed? As I read the note again, though, it started to sink in: maybe he had a point.

My neighborhood was generally safe, but there had been a few incidents in the past months—some break-ins a few blocks over, odd strangers seen walking through alleys late at night, and I’d heard rumors of suspicious vehicles parked nearby. Despite all this, I had never really thought about the security of my home, beyond locking the doors at night.

I started to take stock of what the driver had said. He mentioned that he’d seen people loitering in the area during his deliveries. And he’d pointed out something that, at the time, I hadn’t fully realized—my front porch was visible from the street, but I had no cameras or lights. A simple, vulnerable blind spot in the security of my home.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized the importance of his advice. He wasn’t just doing his job delivering packages—he was paying attention, looking out for the well-being of the people he interacted with, even if they didn’t realize it. It was something so simple, yet so thoughtful, that I decided to act.

The next day, I called a local security company and scheduled the installation of cameras around my house. The technicians arrived within a few days, setting up cameras in strategic locations—at the front and back doors, the driveway, and even around the yard. I also had motion-sensor lights installed. The process wasn’t too expensive, and I felt a sense of relief knowing that I would have an extra layer of protection.

What truly stuck with me, however, was the delivery driver’s kindness. He didn’t have to leave that note. He could have just done his job, dropped off the package, and moved on. But he took the time to care for someone he didn’t even know, to notice something concerning, and to act on it. His simple act of kindness changed the way I viewed my safety and made me realize how much I had been taking my security for granted.

From that day on, I made sure to thank every delivery person who came to my door, and I couldn’t help but think of that driver and how he had helped protect me in a way I’d never imagined. I’ll always be grateful to him for his unexpected and thoughtful gesture. That note, that moment, could have easily been overlooked, but it ultimately changed how I took care of my home—and it made me more aware of the little things in life that truly matter.
