It was my first time attending my husband’s office party, and I was looking forward to finally meeting his colleagues and getting a glimpse into his professional world. I froze, trying to process what was happening. “Wife?” I repeated, confused. Tom quickly chimed in, nervously, “Oh, no, we’re just colleagues.” But Sarah didn’t seem phased by his attempt to brush it off. “Oh, you’re his wife too, huh?” she said, laughing lightly. And then it hit me—this wasn’t just some colleague. This was a woman who had a deep connection with my husband.
