Mark was over the moon as he drove to the hospital to bring home his wife, Sarah, and their newborn twins. The past few days had been a whirlwind of sleepless nights and endless joy, and he couldn’t wait to start their new life together as a family of four.
But when he arrived at Sarah’s hospital room, his heart stopped. The crib with the twins was there, but Sarah was gone. In her place, on the edge of the bed, was a folded note with his name on it.
With trembling hands, Mark opened the note. “I’m sorry, Mark. I had to do this. Take care of our babies. I’ll explain everything when the time is right. Please don’t look for me.”
His mind raced. What could this mean? He frantically asked the nurses if they’d seen Sarah leave, but no one had noticed anything unusual. The hospital security footage showed her quietly slipping out of the building late at night, alone.
Mark was left stunned, caring for two newborns while grappling with the fear and confusion of his wife’s sudden disappearance. Days turned into weeks with no word from Sarah, until one evening, he received a call from an unknown number. Her voice, soft and tearful, came through the line.
“I had to protect you and the babies, Mark. There are things I never told you… dangerous things.”
