Mermaid performer who had giant fish bite her head in front of terrified children speaks out about horrifying incident

A mermaid performer who was recently bitten by a giant fish during a live show is speaking out about the horrifying incident that left children and onlookers terrified. The performer, Lena Matthews, was performing at an aquatic theme park when the unexpected attack occurred.

The incident took place during a routine mermaid performance, where Lena was swimming in a large tank filled with sea creatures. The audience, mostly families with young children, watched in awe as she gracefully moved through the water, playing the role of a magical mermaid. But the mood quickly shifted when a large fish, believed to be a species of predatory piranha, unexpectedly bit Lena on the head.

“I didn’t see it coming,” Lena recalled. “I was in the middle of a routine, when suddenly I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head. The fish was huge and aggressive—it took a few moments to even register what was happening.”

The crowd, particularly the children, screamed in horror as Lena struggled to break free from the fish’s grip. Fortunately, the park’s trainers and staff immediately rushed to her aid, quickly removing her from the tank and ensuring she was safe.

Lena was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for minor head injuries and shock. Despite the frightening experience, she insists that she doesn’t blame the fish. “It was just a natural instinct for the animal,” she explained. “In its environment, I was seen as a potential threat or an intruder.”

Now, Lena is recovering both physically and emotionally. She plans to return to performing, although she says it will take time for her to regain full confidence in the water. “I love my job, and I won’t let this stop me from doing what I love,” she said. “But I’ll be more careful from now on.”
